About Webb Hill Country Club
The golf course at Webb Hill Country Club is located on 230 beautiful wooded, rolling acres between Greenville and Wolfe City. It was built in 1969 using a program started by President Eisenhower to rejuvenate smaller towns because people were moving from small towns to large cities and he was concerned about the impact of losing our rural heritage. The course was designed by Leon Howard.
Charles and Shirley Ranly purchased the site on March 15,1976 and turned it into the beautiful club we have today. At that time, there were no concrete cart paths, landscaping, or even grass on the golf course. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, Wolfe City has a beautiful country club with the following amenities:
- Dining room
- Grill
- Bar
- Pro shop
- Swimming pool
Shirley hosts a buffet in our dining room every Thursday at lunch and usually on two or three Sundays per month. Our buffets include homemade breads and desserts including pies and cakes.
Charles has worked with the legendary Harvey Pennick at Austin Country Club. Harvey hired Charles as a caddie and then taught him to work in the pro shop. When Charles decided to be a golf pro and join the PGA, Mr. Pennick signed his application. Mr. Pennick is well known as a golf instructor to players like Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw and as the author of the Litte Red Book and the Little Green Golf Book.
